Vilsund Muslinge Industri (Vilsund mussel industry) was founded i 1986, and has since the beginning been dedicating its effort to produce high quality products from Danish waters.
Vilsund - fresh and frozen seafood
Over the years the company has grown into a major player in the mussels business and is now delivering fresh and frozen products to all of the major European markets. Through our two production sites in Nykøbing Mors and Aggersund we daily supply our customers around Europe. Our main products are wildcaught Blue Shell Mussels (Mytilus Edulis) and Flat Oysters (Osterea Edulis). The mussels and oysters are caught in the Limfjord in the northern part of Jutland.
Modern mussel processing plants
The fishing vessels land their catch at the small harbours around the fjord and we transport them to our modern cleaning facility at the seaside in Nykøbing Mors. Here the mussels are washed and cleaned and then put under seawater for desanding. After the desanding the mussels are cleaned a second time and the byssus (beards) are removed. Then the mussels are sent to the cooking facility in the industrial area (Food Parken). In Food Parken where the head quarters of Vilsund Muslinge Industri is located, the mussels are cooked in our cooking facility which is approved by the BRC.
Fresh mussels and Oysters
The fresh factory in Aggersund (Vilsund Trading) is handling all sale, production and distribution of fresh mussels and oysters within the Vilsund group. At our state of the art production plant we clean, desand and pack the mussels and oysters and distribute them to our customers in Denmark, Scandinavia, Germany, Benelux, France and Spain. Our efficient employees and equipment make sure that the timespan between order placement and delivery of the products is less than 24 hours.
